DarKoram was not reachable for relicensing, hence I'm rewriting what he said. On 14:35, 27 May 2012, he wrotes that he founds some broken link on the related page. He also said that he was writing at this time a some modification for the blender software. The purpose of his modification was to handle the limit vertex groups per bone issue (which affected the exporter tool at this time). He was saying it was looking for md5 testers, and he said that this patch will be expose some c call to API for the exporter gui.

Hi there,

That'd be a nice feature to have, although I should note that there is now a new MD5 exporter available using BMesh (and is therefore for Blender 2.63+ only). I'd encourage you to hop on IRC if you'd like to discuss anything, like get one of us to test anything. Just yesterday we put a new git repo up just for Blender scripts as the two MD5 exporters available at present, as far as I know, are not being managed with revision control and are buggy with certain versions of Blender.

Akimbo weapons?

Supposedly, it is possible to place multiple instances of tag_weapon on the first-person hands model and the engine will place a weapon in each hand. Need to verify this.

Location of animation.cfg?

Doing a quick grep on the source code, it appears that the location of animation.cfg for MD3 models is models/buildables/%s/animation.cfg for buildables and models/players/%s/animation.cfg for animations. I do not, however, see a hardcoded location for a weapon animation config.
