The AVI format is used when recording videos from demos.

AVI container

AVI stands for “Audio Video Interleave” and is a multimedia container suitable to store audio and video and can support multiple codecs.

With the Dæmon engine AVI is only supported as a writing format to record videos from demos, it uses MJPEG as a video codec and no sound is recorded.

MJPEG video codec

Motion JPEG or MJPEG is a lossy video compression format where each frame is stored as a JPEG image.
